Yerevan's public transport is now cashless: the easiest tourist workflow is to buy a QR ticket at a Telcell terminal (you'll see them in many shops/metro areas) or in the Telcell Wallet app, then scan it when you board. Don't assume you can always pay the driver in cash.

If you plan to use buses/metro a lot, consider getting a reloadable transport card (sold at metro stations, Telcell service points, and central info points) and loading a package online or at Telcell terminals-this is smoother than buying one-off tickets every time.
