South Korea has a straightforward VAT tax-refund system: spend at least KRW 15,000 on a single receipt at a store marked for tax refund, ask the cashier for the refund process (have your passport handy), and keep the receipt and unused goods. At departure, use the airport kiosk/counter to validate and receive your refund (some shops also offer instant refunds at checkout).
Buy a T-money transportation card at a convenience store (or metro station) as soon as you arrive—then you can tap in/out on subways and buses and easily top up at stations or convenience stores. It saves time vs. single tickets and works across most urban transit.
