Taiwan’s VAT refund is easy if you know the rule: spend at least NT$2,000 at the same designated ‘Taiwan Tax Refund’ store on the same day, request the VAT refund form with your entry document, then claim at your departure port within 90 days (bring receipts and the goods).

Get an EasyCard on day one and treat it like your ‘Taiwan life-pass’: you can add value at Taipei Metro add-value machines and use it for metro/buses (and often convenience-store payments), which reduces coin juggling and speeds up transit.
